UPPSC PCS 2021 Recruitment – Eligibility Criteria

Nationality:
The candidate should be a citizen of India. S/he should not have obtained the permanent residency/citizenship/green card of any other country.
Age Limit:
Minimum age as of 1 July 2021 – 21 years.
Maximum age as of 1 July, 2021 – 40 years
(They must have not been born earlier than 2nd July 1981 and not later than July 1, 2000).
Relaxation in age shall be applicable as mentioned below:

Note: Documents are required to claim for age relaxation. There is no number of attempts, candidates between 21 years to 40 years can appear for the exam.
Marital status:
Both Married and unmarried candidates are eligible.
Note: Male candidates who are married and have more than one wife living and female candidates who have married a person already having a wife, shall not be eligible unless the Hon'ble. Governor has granted an exemption from this condition.

UPPSC PCS 2021 Exam – Pattern & Syllabus:
Stage I – Prelims Exam Pattern
The Preliminary examination for Combined State / Upper Subordinate Services (PCS) consists of 2 papers of which answer sheets will be on OMR sheets. Paper I and II, shall comprise of 150 and 100 respectively. The timing of paper I will be from 9.30 to 11.30 A.M. and paper II from 2.30 to 4.30 P.M.

Paper I (General Studies-I):
- Current events of national and international importance.
- History of India and Indian National Movement.
- India and World geography – Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World.
- Indian Polity and governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues etc.
- Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
- General Issues on Environmental ecology, Biodiversity and Climate Change- that do not require subject specialization.

Paper I (General Studies-II) Syllabus:
- Comprehension.

Stage 2 – Paper II – Main Examination Pattern
The Written examination will consist of compulsory and optional subjects. The candidates have to select any one subject from the list of optional subjects for the main examination which will consist of two papers.

Stage 3 –: Personality Test:
The candidate will be interviewed by a board of competent and unbiased observers. The personality test will be of 150 Marks.

- Total duration of Paper I and II – 2 hours each
- Total Number of questions in Paper I – 150 (200 Marks)
- Total Number of questions in Paper II – 100 (200 Marks)
Note 2:
- Paper-II of the Prelim Exam will be a qualifying paper with 33% being minimum qualifying marks.
- It is mandatory for the Candidates to appear in both the papers of Prelim Exam.
- The merit of the Candidates will be determined on the basis of marks secured in Paper-I of the Prelim Exam.
- No candidate shall be admitted to the examination unless he holds the admit card obtained from the Commission.

Admit cards are mandatory in order to appear in the exam. UPPSC PCS Admit Card is released on the official website of UPPSC.
- The candidates need to download their admit card before appearing for the examination.(keep it for future use).
- Candidates who have qualified for the interview have to carry the UPPSC PCS hall ticket.
- Make sure the details in the admit card like your name, date of birth etc. match accurately to the ID proof you would be carrying like AADHAR, PAN, Voter ID etc.
