SSC CGL Syllabus 2024: SSC CGL is the Combined Graduate Level conducted for filling up officer & assistant-level posts in various ministries and departments of the Central Government. SSC CGL Notification 2024 has been released on the 24th June 2024. The Syllabus and Exam pattern has also been mentioned in the notification. The syllabus and exam pattern is very crucial for the preparation for any government examination. Candidates can prepare an effective study plan only after having complete knowledge of the syllabus. SSC CGL Examination consists of two tiers which are conducted in online mode. The final merit list is released based on marks obtained by the candidates in both stages of the examination. We have mentioned below the detailed SSC CGL Syllabus & Exam Pattern to provide a better understanding to the candidates. Candidates can check the syllabus and exam pattern for both tiers of the SSC CGL 2024.
The total time duration of SSC CGL 2024 is 60 minutes. The merit list will be prepared based on the overall performance of candidates in the Tier-II Examination only. This means Tier-1 is qualifying in nature now. All sections of paper 1 must be qualified separately.

We have mentioned below the subject-wise syllabus for the SSC CGL Tier I.
It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal types.
Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates' general awareness of the environment around them and its application to society.
The questions will be designed to test the ability to appropriately use numbers and number sense of the candidate.
The candidate's ability to understand correct English, his basic comprehension and writing ability, etc. would be tested. The questions in Parts A, B, & D will be of a level commensurate with the essential qualification viz. Graduation and questions in Part C will be of the 10th standard level.
The merit list will be prepared based on the overall performance of candidates in the Tier-II Examination only. The total time duration is 2 hours 15 minutes for Paper – 1 and 2 hours for Papers – 2 and 3 each.

In Tier – I, there is a negative marking of 0.5 marks for every wrong answer.
In Tier – 2, there is a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section-I, Section-II, and Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I and of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-II and Paper-III.

Questions of both verbal and non-verbal types. These will include questions on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/ Number Analogy, Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation, Semantic Classification, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/ Number Classification, Drawing inferences, Figural Classification, Punched hole/ pattern-folding & unfolding, Semantic Series, Figural Pattern- folding and completion, Number Series, Embedded figures, Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and de-coding, Numerical operations, Other sub-topics, if any.
Vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, and their correct usage; Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/ Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/ Detecting misspelled words, Idioms & Phrases, word substitution, Improvement of Sentences, Active/ Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/ Indirect narration, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage. To test comprehension, three or more paragraphs will be given and questions based on those will be asked. At least one paragraph should be a simple one based on a book or a story and the other two paragraphs should be on current affairs, based on a report or an editorial.
Questions are designed to test the candidates' general awareness of the environment around them and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy, and scientific research.

Statistical Inference | Explores point and interval estimation, properties of a good estimator, methods of estimation, hypothesis testing, basic concepts of testing, small and large sample tests, tests based on Z, t, Chi-square, and F statistic, and confidence intervals. |

The minimum educational qualification required to appear for the SSC CGL exam is graduation.
Clearing the SSC CGL exam qualifies a candidate to Group–B and Group–C posts in the various departments of the Government of India.
The SSC CGL exam is conducted in both English and Hindi mediums.

2. Tier - 2 Exam Pattern changed. Additional subjects of Reasoning, General Awareness and Computer Proficiency added.
3. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of overall performance of candidates in Tier-II Examination only.
4. Sectional Cut off introduced in Tier- 2. This means Tier-1 is qualifying in nature now.
5. Changes in Negative Marking in Tier-2.
