SLAT Exam 2022 - Complete Details

The Registration process for the SLAT is going on and will continue till 24th April 2022. The Law entrance examination of Symbiosis is known as SLAT (Symbiosis Law Admission Test). It is conducted annually by Symbiosis International (Deemed University) for admission to the 5-year integrated law courses. The integrated courses offered are BBA LLB (Hons.) and BA LLB (Hons.) The examination will be conducted on 14th May 2022. This article will provide you with relevant and accurate details of the SLAT.

Important Details Regarding SLAT Exam 2022

  • The Registration window will be open till 24th April 2022.
  • Candidates can make changes in the registration form till the last day of registration.
  • Candidates must fulfil all the eligibility requirements.
  • The candidates should ensure that the information provided in the form is correct before submitting the application form.
  • Read all the provided instructions carefully before filling out the application form.
  • No changes in the city preferences and admission category will be entertained after the final submission of the form.
  • SLAT results will be announced on 20th May 2022.
  • Candidates will be shortlisted for the ST-PI rounds based on the Entrance Test Result,

Note: Students who have appeared for their 12th Board examination and are awaiting results too can apply. They must produce a passing certificate at the time of admission to the Law school. 

Criteria for Age: There is no upper age limit set by the Board for admission to the BA LLB and BBA LLB course/ programmes.

SLAT: Reservation criteria

The category-wise reservation percentage is given below:

  • Scheduled Castes (SC)- 15 per cent reservation
  • Scheduled Tribes (ST)- 7.50 per cent reservation
  • Differently Abled- 3 per cent reservation
  • Wards of Serving/ Retired Defence Personnel- 5 per cent reservation

SLAT: Application Process

The application process is a 5-step procedure. 

Step 1: Online Registration

Candidates must register themselves through the official website- www.set-test.org. The online registration should be completed by 24th April 2022. 

Step 2: Upload Photo

It should be a recent coloured passport size photograph. 

Step 3: Fill out the Application Form

The candidates require to fill in the following details

  • Education Details
  • Contact Details

Step 4: Payment of Application Fees

The last date to pay the application fee is 24th April 2022. The Application Fee is Rs.1,950/- and is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Step 5: Select the desired Program and Institute.

The registration fee for each program is Rs.1,000/-. It is non-refundable and non-transferable.

How to Register for SLAT

The candidates can follow the steps provided below for the SLAT Registration.

Step 1: Visit the official website

Step 2: Click on Apply Now

Step 3: Click on Register and fill out the SLAT Registration form.

Step 4: Enter the details- name, category, e-mail ID, mobile number, and the test city.

Step 5: Upload a scanned copy of your photograph

Step 6: Click on the Save and Continue option.

An ID and password will be sent to your mobile number and the registered e-mail address. Using this, you will be able to access your application form.

Step 7: The Application Window will appear. 

Step 8: Enter the required credentials- name, date of birth, educational qualification, program/ course applied for, and other details.

Step 9: Check your application form for accuracy.

Step 10: Now, from the Make the payment tab, select your mode of payment.

Step 11: Make the payment.

  • Demand Draft in favour of "Symbiosis Test Secretariat" payable at Pune.

SLAT: Test Centres 

No change of test/ examination city requests will be entertained after the final submission of the application form. Test/ examination City allocation is made based on the date of the payment made. Chances of securing a Test/ examination City of your preference increase if the application payment is made early.

  • It is an online examination.
  • SLAT is an objective type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) Test.
  • The paper is divided into five sections.
  • Each section has 12 questions.
  • The total number of questions in the examination is 60.
  • Each question carries 1 mark.
  • The total marks of the examination are 60 marks.
  • Negative marking is not applicable.
  • The time duration of the examination is 60 minutes (1hour).

The examination (SLAT) will be followed by a Writing Ability Test (WAT)

  • The time duration for the Writing Ability Test is 30 minutes.
  • WAT for SLAT will be evaluated by the respective institute and programme for which the application has been made.
  • WAT scores will not be issued along with the SLAT scorecard.

The syllabus for the law entrance examination is given below:

Legal terms, History of the Indian Constitution, Fundamental Rights and duties, DPSP, Parliament, Judiciary, Executive and legislature, Law of Torts, Contracts law, IPC, CrPC, Liability, Intellectual property rights, Important Acts and laws, Legal events in the current scenario.

  • Analytical Reasoning 

Elementary maths, Algebra, Profit & loss, Percentage, Time, Distance and Work, Average.

  • Legal Reasoning 

Arguments and conclusions, Sets and statements, Puzzles, Blood relation, Series, Syllogism, Series.

  • General Knowledge (Static GK and Current affairs)

History, Economics, Geography, International bodies, Current events of national and international importance, Sports, Awards, and Honors, New appointments

  • Reading Comprehension 

Vocabulary - Antonyms & Synonyms, Spelling correction, Grammar - Tense, Part of speech, Idioms and Phrases, Analogies, One-word Substitution, Sentence Improvement and rearrangement, Errors detection - Spotting errors, inappropriate usage of words, spelling mistakes, English Comprehension.
