Cut-off marks are the marks that the candidate should obtain to qualify for the next stage of the selection process. Passing marks/ minimum marks required are not the same as the cut-off marks. The minimum passing marks are specified much before the examinations are conducted, but the cut-off marks are announced only after the Examination process is over. The cut-off marks change from year to year because several factors affect the process of determining the cut-off.
If you are an aspirant for the post of JKSSB Junior Assistant, you must have a tentative idea of the cut-off to prepare for the examination keeping a certain target. The final cut-off will be available only after the process of examination is over. It is sensible to study the previous year's cut-off marks for the JKSSB Junior Assistant Examination and arrive at a tentative cut-off. The cut-off will also depend on the Cadre of the post and the category of the candidate.
The number of vacancies to be filled plays an important role in the cut-off being high or low. In case the number of vacancies is high, the cut-off marks would be lower. But, if there are only a few vacancies, the cut-off marks will be higher because the level of competition will increase.
The higher the number of candidates appearing for the examination, the higher the cut-off will go up. If the number of candidates appearing is less, then the cut-off will also be lower.
The level of difficulty of the examination question paper also affects the calculations of the cut-off marks. The more difficult the questions paper will be, the lower the cut-off marks, whereas an easier question paper will have higher cut-off marks.
The number of stages in the recruitment process also plays a role in deciding the JKSSB Junior Assistant Cut-Off. Fewer stages in the recruitment process will mean that the cut-off will be high, whereas a higher number of stages of the recruitment process will have a lower cut-off.
