The cut-off marks are different for each year. The variation in the cut-off marks takes place considering different factors. These factors are as follows :
The number of vacancies to be filled has an essential role in the cut-off being low or high. If the number of vacancies is high, the cut-off would be lower. But, if there are only a few vacancies available, the cut-off marks will be high due to an increase in competition.
The higher the no. of candidates appearing for the exam, the cut-off too will increase. If the no. of candidates appearing is less, then the cut-off will also be below.
The level of difficulty of the question paper also affects the calculation of the cut-off. The more difficult the questions paper, the lower the cut-off marks, whereas an easier question paper will have higher cut-off marks.
If the average performance of the candidates is higher than the qualifying marks, then the cut-off marks will increase.
