Exams
The Karnataka Public Service Commission is responsible for conducting the KPSC KAS exam each year. This examination is conducted to recruit candidates for the post of grade A, and the grade B Gazetted Probationer to work in the Karnataka administrative services or KAS. The candidates need to first appear for the examination, and they are then shortlisted for the post. THE Commission releases the KAS Answer Key a few weeks after the examination.
The KAS Answer Key is released on the KPSC official website. Once the KAS Answer Key is released, candidates can download it and then tally it with their answers. The KAS exam is divided into two stages. The Prelims, where the candidate appears for an objective type exam pattern. The second is the main examination which is a written subjective exam pattern. The aspirant needs to clear both rounds to be called for an interview, the final selection round. Candidates who clear the cut-off marks in the prelim examination can sit for the mains and then proceed to the interview stage.
The KAS Answer Key is thus very important because once the candidate checks their score with the KAS answer key, they can immediately start preparing for the mains if they know that they have qualified. This saves time and also gives them an edge over their competitors.
Candidates should download the KAS Answer Key from the Karnataka PSC website. There are four sets of answer keys provided: A, B, C, and D answer keys. If there are any objections against the answer key provided, they should raise this within five days after the KAS answer key is published. If any objection is raised after the deadline, it will not be entertained.
The final answer key will then be published after considering the raised objections. This will also let the Karnataka PSC finalize the cut-off marks. Those candidates who score above the cut-off mark can proceed to attempt the next level of the examination.
Here are the steps to download the KAS answer key.
After the KAS answer key is released, the candidates can tally their answers to check if they have crossed the cut-off marks. To evaluate the marks, the candidate should first be aware of the steps of the marking scheme.
Here is how the marks are awarded.
Candidates can use the above guide and mark their answers. Make sure to follow the marking scheme properly to get the right score. Once all questions are marked using the KAS answer key, sum up the score, and this is the total marks you have obtained.
The cut-off marks are, however, decided based on various factors. The examination difficulty level, the total number of candidates who appeared for the examination, etc., are considered.
While they may not know the exact cut-off marks, check the last few year's cut-off marks to understand if you are through the prelims. You can also refer to the KPSC expected cut-off marks.
