ICAR IARI Technician Eligibility
Nationality
Candidates applying for the post of ICAR IARI Technician (T-1) should be either:
a) A citizen of India, or
b) A citizen of Nepal, or
c) A citizen of Bhutan, or
d) A Tibetan refugee who came to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
e) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Burma, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia, Zaire, and Vietnam to permanently settle in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Indian Government. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be permitted to sit for the examination, but the appointment may be given after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Indian Government.
Educational Qualification
The candidates must fulfil the educational requirement to take the ICAR IARI Technician 2021 recruitment examination. The minimum required qualification is mentioned below:
Matriculation pass from a recognized Board.
Candidate must specify their percentage of marks obtained (calculated to the nearest two decimals) in the application form.
Where the percentage of marks is not awarded by the University and only CGPA/ OGPA is awarded, the same shall be converted into percentage in terms of the conversion norms of the University.
Candidates will have to produce the certificate issued by the University stating the conversion formula of the University during the document verification. The Round-off percentage will not be accepted.
For Serving Candidates
Candidates already serving on a permanent or temporary (under probation) basis in the Indian Council of Agricultural Research or other Government departments must inform in writing to the Head of their concerned Department that they have applied for the ICAI IARI Technician (T-1) recruitment 2021. Candidates should note that if their department communicates to the IARI withholding permission for the candidate to apply for taking the exam, the application of such a candidate will be rejected.
Age Limit And Relaxation
The candidates should be aware of the age requirements for the post of Technician (T- 1). The minimum and maximum age limit for the said post is set by the ICAR IARI. The upper age limit relaxation is provided for the reserved categories. The relaxation for candidates is decided according to the rules and regulations of the Government.
Age requirements for the ICAR IARI Technician examination are as under:

The maximum age for the Serving regular employees of ICAR is 58 years as of 10th January 2022.
The upper age relaxation provided to various categories are given below:
- SC (Scheduled Caste)- 5 years
- ST (Scheduled Tribes)- 5 years
- OBC (Other Backward Classes)- 3 years
- PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability)- 10 years
Candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC (Non- Creamy Layer) who also come under the ‘Person with Benchmark Disability category will be eligible for grant of a cumulative upper age relaxation under both their respective categories. The reservation for PwBD is horizontal across all the categories.
(iv) To other bonafide displaced persons/ repatriates of Indian origin/ Ex-Servicemen/ Serving Defence Services Personnel etc., as per the existing instructions of the Government of India on the subject.
(v) In any circumstance, the maximum age limit cannot exceed 58 years as of 10th January 2022.
(vi) Date of Birth of the candidate as per the Matriculation/ Secondary Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate will be accepted by ICAR- IARI for determining their age. No subsequent request for its change will be accepted.
All candidates, irrespective of their communities, maybe considered against the Unreserved vacancies, subject to fulfilment of parameters for the unreserved candidates. Only candidates belonging to that community will be considered for the vacancies reserved for specific communities (SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL/ EWS).
For SC/ST (Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes) Candidates:
Reservation of the vacancies for Schedule Caste/ Schedule Tribes will be as per the directives of the Indian Government. Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe category must submit the attested copy of their Caste certificate issued by the Competent Authority at the time of the document verification stage.
For OBC- NCL (Other Backward Class – Non-Creamy Layer) Candidates:
Other Backward Classes (OBC- NCL) candidates should ensure that they have the OBC- NCL Certificate in the prescribed format provided by the Authorities (issued on or after 1st January 2020) to apply for recruitments under the Government of India.
The candidates applying against vacancies reserved for OBC- NCL must produce a valid caste certificate at the time of the document verification in support of them belonging to the OBC- NCL category as per the rules and regulations of the Indian Government. The caste certificate should be issued by the Competent Authority in the prescribed format for this purpose to show that they do not belong to the "Creamy Layer" of the OBC category.
The category to which a candidate belongs should be listed in the Central list of OBC-NCL released by the Indian Government. The candidate must also submit before their appointment a declaration stating that they do not belong to the Creamy Layer of OBC. The income limit in this regard will be decided based on income earned during three previous financial years preceding the year of appointment.
For EWS (Economically Weaker Section) Candidates:
Candidates not covered under reservation for SC/ ST/OBC-NCL and whose family gross annual income is below Rs. 8,00,000/- (Rupees eight Lakh) will come under the EWS category. The income will include income from all sources, i.e., salary, agriculture, business, profession etc., for the financial year preceding the year of application. The candidates whose family owns or possesses any of the following assets shall be excluded from being identified as EWS, irrespective of family income:
a. 5 acres or more of agricultural land.
b. Residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. Or more
c. Residential plot of 100 sq. yards or more in notified municipalities;
d. Residential plot of 200 sq. yards or more in areas other than notified municipalities
Candidates applying for the vacancies reserved for the Economically Weaker Section must submit a valid Income & Asset Certificate issued by Competent Authority as per Annexure - VI of the notification during the Document Verification. If the candidate does not fulfill these requirements and has applied under the EWS category, their candidature, if fulfilling all the eligibility conditions for the Unreserved category, will be considered under the UR (Unreserved) vacancies only.
For PwBD (Persons with benchmark disability) Candidates:
The disability of the candidate should be a minimum of 40 per cent or above to fall under the PwBD category. The candidate should submit a disability certificate issued by a competent authority as per Form V, VI and VII of rule 18(1) under Chapter 7 of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017, dated 15th June 2017. The existing certificates of disability issued under the Persons with Disabilities Act 1995 (since repealed) shall continue to be valid for the period specified therein.
a) Notwithstanding the provision of upper age limit relaxation under (iii), candidates of the PwBD category will be eligible for appointment only after a Medical Examination if they are found to satisfy the requirements of medical and physical standards of the post.
For Ex-servicemen Candidates:
a) The term Ex-servicemen applies to candidates defined as Ex-servicemen in the Ex-servicemen (Re-employment in Civil Services and Posts) Rules, 1979.
b) The upper age relaxation will be provided to Ex-servicemen as per the Government directives.
c) Ex-servicemen candidates must provide defence service certificates issued by the Competent Authority at the time of the document verification.
d) Defence personnel to be released within one year of the last date of Registration of Application (on or before 10th January 2022) are also eligible to apply for both the vacancies reserved for them as well as the post not reserved for them.
f) Ex-Servicemen candidates who are already appointed under the Central Government in Group ‘C' & ‘D' (including PSUs, Autonomous Bodies/ Statutory Bodies, Nationalized Banks etc.) will be given only the benefit of age relaxation provided to their category.
g) If an Ex-serviceman applies for various vacancies before joining any civil employment, they can avail the benefit of reservation of Ex-serviceman for any subsequent employment, subject to the condition that an Ex-serviceman as soon as he joins any Civil employment, should give self-declaration to the concerned employer about the details of application against this Employment Notification. NOC from the civil employer must be submitted during the document verification.
