FSSAI Recruitment 2021 - Know it All

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) hereinafter referred to as ‘Authority' is a statutory body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. FSSAI has been created for laying down science-based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale, and import to ensure the availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption. FSSAI has invited applications on Direct Recruitment (FSSAI Recruitment 2021 Notification) basis from dynamic and motivated candidates looking for exciting career opportunities in the Food Regulatory System.

FSSAI 2021 Notification

FSSAI has released the recruitment notification to recruit for a number of posts, the prominent ones being the technical officer (125 vacancies), central food safety officer (37 vacancies), assistant (33 vacancies), and many more, etc. A total of 233 vacancies have been announced by FSSAI in FSSAI Recruitment 2021 Notification. The apply online link has been activated and the aspirants can register for various posts till the 12th of November 2021.

FSSAI 2021 Eligibility Criteria & Experience Required

1. FSSAI Technical Officer Eligibility Criteria/Experience/Educational Qualification

Age-Limit on the Closing Date of Application - 30

(a) "Master Degree from a recognized University or Institution in Chemistry or Biochemistry or Food Technology or Food Science & Technology or Food & Nutrition or Edible Oil Technology or Microbiology or Dairy Technology or Agricultural or horticultural Sciences or Industrial Microbiology or Toxicology or Public Health or Life Science or Biotechnology or Fruit & Vegetable Technology or Food Safety & Quality Assurance. 

OR 

(b) PG Diploma of at least one-year duration in Food Safety or Food Science or Food Processing or Quality Assurance in Food sector or Dietetic and Public Health or Nutrition or Dairy Science or Bakery Science or Post Harvest Technology from a Govt. recognized University/ Institute with a condition that

candidates who have completed these PG Diploma courses must have studied any one of the following subjects at their Bachelor's degree level i.e. Chemistry or Biochemistry or Food Technology or Food Science & Technology or Food & Nutrition or Edible Oil Technology or Microbiology or Dairy Technology or Agricultural or horticultural Sciences or Industrial Microbiology or Toxicology or Public Health or Life Science or Biotechnology or Fruit & Vegetable Technology or Food Safety & Quality Assurance or Food Processing Technology or Fruit & Vegetable or Medicine or Veterinary Sciences or Fisheries or Animal Sciences" 

OR 

(c) BE or B.Tech in Food Technology or Dairy Technology or Biotechnology or Oil Technology or Food Process Engineering or Food Processing Technology or Fruit & Vegetable Technology or Food Safety & Quality Assurance or Bachelor's degree (not less than four years duration) in Medicine or Veterinary Sciences or Fisheries or Animal Sciences. 

Desirable: Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering or Council of Scientific and Industrial Research or Indian Council of Agricultural Research National Eligibility Test. 

2. FSSAI Central Food Safety Officer (CFSO) - Eligibility Criteria/Experience/Educational Qualifications

Age-Limit on the Closing Date of Application - 30

(a) Degree in Food Technology or Dairy Technology or Biotechnology or Oil Technology or Agricultural Science or Veterinary Sciences or Biochemistry or Microbiology or Master's Degree in Chemistry or degree in medicine from a recognized University 

OR 

(b) any other equivalent or recognized qualification notified by the Central Government. 

Desirable: Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering or Council of Scientific and Industrial Research or Indian Council of Agricultural Research National Eligibility Test. 

3. FSSAI Assistant - Eligibility Criteria/Experience/Educational Qualifications

Age-Limit on the Closing Date of Application - 30

Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or Institution.

FSSAI 2021 Vacancy Details – Post-wise & Category-wise

A total of 233 vacancies have been announced in the FSSAI Recruitment 2021 Notification. Here is a split-up of post-wise and category-wise vacancies.

Note: Candidates applying for multiple posts would be required to indicate their priority for joining the posts in case of selection for more than one post. The priority indicated by the candidate in the online application will be final. 

FSSAI 2021 Exam Pattern

(b) Shortlisting of Candidates for CBT (Stage-2)

Candidates in the ratio of 1:20 will be shortlisted/called for CBT (Stage-2).

(c) Shortlisting of Candidates for Interview

Candidates in the ratio of 1:5 will be shortlisted/called for an interview for the post. 

(d) Shortlisting of Candidates for Proficiency in Shorthand and Typing (for the post of Personal Assistant)

Candidates in the ratio of 1:10 will be shortlisted for proficiency in shorthand. Qualifying the proficiency test in shorthand and typing will be mandatory for the selection of the post. However, marks obtained in shorthand and typing exams will not be added to the final result. 

FSSAI Technical Officer and Central Food Safety Officer (CFSO) Exam Pattern

Computer Based Test (Stage-1) will be of 180-minute duration with 120 MCQ questions. 4 marks would be given for each correct answer and 1 mark deducted for each wrong answer.

FSSAI Assistant Exam Pattern

Single computer-based test of 180-minute duration with 120 multiple choice type questions. Each correct answer will carry 4 marks whereas the wrong answer will carry a (-1) mark.

PART A - General Aptitude and Computer Literacy

General Intelligence: Would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal types e.g. Questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgement, decision-making visual memory, discriminating relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series. 

General Awareness: Questions to test the ability of the candidate's General Awareness of the environment around him/her and its application to society. Also testing knowledge of current events and matters of everyday observation may be expected of an educated person. The test will include questions relating to India and neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, sports and scientific research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

English Language Comprehension: Would test the candidates understanding of the English language its vocabulary, grammar etc. would include questions on comprehension, one-word substitution, synonyms and antonyms, spelling errors, spotting errors in sentences, grammar nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, prepositions, conjunctions, use of ‘a ‘an" and ‘the', idioms And phrases etc, Parts of speech. 

Computer Literacy: Candidates are expected to be able to handle all regular office work on computers. Knowledge of MS office (word, excel, PowerPoint) including basic commands, Google Docs, emails, digital signature, and commonly use social media handles (Whattsapp, FB, Twitter, etc). would be tested.

FSSAI Assistant Syllabus

General Intelligence: It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal types. The test will include questions on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/ Number Analogy, Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation, Semantic Classification, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/ Number Classification, Drawing inferences, Figural Classification, Punched hole/ pattern-folding & unfolding, Semantic Series, Figural Pattern – folding and completion, Number Series, Embedded figures, Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and decoding, Other sub-topics, if any Numerical operations.
