UPSC Notification 2023 was released on the 1st of February 2023 for the recruitment of Civil Services Officers. The Preliminary examination was conducted in May 2023 and the results were released on the 12th of June 2023. Age Relaxation

The UPSC has mentioned age relaxation for the candidates applying for the UPSC 2023 exam. UPSC age relaxation for the general category is not applicable, however, the UPSC age relaxation for SC/ST, OBC, Defence Personnel, ex-servicemen, and others is mentioned below.

Educational Qualification

The UPSC CSE Educational Qualification states that the candidates applying for the UPSC Civil Services Examination must have a graduation degree from a govt. recognized university. The educational qualification is not limited to any particular stream.

Candidates who are pursuing graduation and are waiting for their final results can also apply, but only on the condition that the result should be declared before filling out the application for the UPSC Mains 2023 exam. Also, candidates who have appeared for degrees such as MBBS, ICSI, ICAI, and ICWAI and are awaiting results can apply, but they need to provide proof of qualifying for the degree.

Nationality

The candidates who wish to appear in the UPSC civil services examination 2023 should be a:

  • citizen of India or
  • should be a citizen of Nepal or
  • the subject of Bhutan or
  • he/she must be Tibetan Refugee who migrated to India to settle permanently before January 01, 1962, or
  • person of Indian origin who migrated from Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Kenya, Vietnam, and Zaire.

UPSC Exam Pattern 2023

UPSC CSE exam is held in three phases in order to arrive at a merit list for the available vacancies. The three phases are:

  • UPSC Prelims
  • UPSC Mains
  • Interview

UPSC Interview

  • Candidates who have cleared the UPSC Mains Exam are called for an interview or a personality test, here the candidates are interviewed by a board that is appointed by the UPSC.
  • The candidate will be interviewed by a board based on the details and interests updated by him/her in the Detailed Application Form (DAF).
  • The objective of the interview is to assess the suitability of the candidate for civil services
  • In the personality test, the candidates must be very well versed with their field of study as well as the current affairs both at the national and international level.
  • This interview is more of a conversation that is aimed at gauging the mental as well as the analytical ability of the candidate.
  • The grand total is arrived at by adding the marks obtained in the mains exam and the interview out of a maximum possible marks of ( 1750 +275 = 2025). Based on this number, the merit list is prepared.

UPSC Notification 2023 - Syllabus

UPSC Notification 2023 - Admit Card

UPSC CSE mains admit card is expected to be released in the first week of the September as the mains exam will be conducted from 15th to 19th September 2023. Candidates who will be appearing in the mains examination must be aware of the detailed procedure to download the admit card.

Candidates must follow these steps in order to download the UPSC CSE prelims admit card

  • Visit the UPSC official website ( https://upsconline.nic.in/)
  • Click on the "e-Admit Card Civil Services (Mains) Examination, 2023".
  • Read the Important Instructions
  • Then click on Yes for "Have You Read & Taken the Print Out of 'Important Instructions'"
  • Select the option for downloading the admit card
  • Enter Registration number or roll number and DOB.
  • Enter the Captcha Code as shown in the image
  • Admit card will appear on the screen.
