AFCAT is a national level competition conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to select officers for all its branches i.e. Flying Branch, Technical Branch and Ground Duty Branches. Air Force Common Admission Test is a written exam conducted by Indian Air Force twice every year to induct officers in the IAF. The written exam is followed by an Air Force Selection Board Interview for shortlisted candidates.
Indian Air Force releases the notification for the Air Force Common Aptitude Test (AFCAT) twice a year in the months of June and December. AFCAT 2022 notification will be released in the month of June. The exam will be conducted in the month of August. The recruitment is for Short Service Commission (SSC) in Flying Branch and Permanent Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC) in Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches.

Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as on 01 July 2021 i.e. born between 02 July 1997 to 01 July 2001 (both dates inclusive). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years i.e. born between 02 July 1995 to 01 July 2001 (both dates inclusive).
Ground Duty (Technical/ Non-Technical) Branches: 20 to 26 years as on 01 July 2021 i.e. born between 02 July 1995 to 01 July 2001 (both dates Inclusive).
Flying Branch: Bachelor's Degree in Any Stream with 60% in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 Level / B.E / B.Tech Course.
Ground Duty (Technical) Branches:
Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches: Graduation in any discipline with minimum 60% Or Cleared section A&B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with 60%.

The application process for the AFCAT 2021 recruitment has started from 1 June 2021 and will end on 30 June 2021.

Step 2: Click on ‘Candidate Login' on the home page of AFCAT for sign-in
Step 3: Candidates need to log in with their registered email ID and password
Step 4: Select the type of entry, AFCAT, NCC Special Entry for Flying Branch
Step 5: Read the instructions carefully
Step 6: Click ‘Application Form Filling'. Candidates in the application form are required to fill the following details such as Name, Father's Name, Mother's Name, Mobile No. Nationality, etc.
Step 7: After filling the AFCAT application form 2021, candidates need to pay Rs 250 as examination fees. Candidates need to click ‘Make Payment' to pay the fees.
Step 8: After the payment of fees candidates will also receive the confirmation regarding fee payment on their registered email ID and mobile number.

Candidate’s selection is based on Merit list/Written Test/Physical Test/Medical Test.
AFCAT exam is conducted twice a year in February and August/September by Indian Air Force.
The candidates with a graduate degree with 60% minimum marks and of age group 20-24 years for Flying Branch and 20-26 years for Ground Duty Officers are eligible to apply for AFCAT 2 Exam.
The candidates will be shortlisted through a merit list prepared through online examination, psychological test, and medical examination.
AFCAT entry fee is Rs. 250 for all candidates. For NCC candidates there is no entry fee.
